An ordinary day at Baker Street. A new production begins.
And some Final Thank You’s and Notes on writing the story. Including a rec list of performance focused fics that were inspiration for the story, or that folks might want to read.
And as another thank you - since tackling a story upwards of 480,000 can be a tad intimidating, it’s now also posted as a series here:
The series seems a little bit wonky right now, but it will get sorted out soon, I’m sure. The final section “Together” in the series posting is a bit tighter - it’s shorter over all, and has less explicit content - but the original version is still available at the one-and-done SHL here .
Thank you, thank you, thank you - to one and all for enjoying and sharing and carrying me along to the finish line with this. It’s changed me as a writer (tested my limits and taught me a few) and brought me closer to many people I love and respect and admire.
Thanks especially to @jrow for being here with me at the end - editing with perseverance (oh the mountain of ‘u’s you’ve reminded me to add - some day I will deserve the honour of your favour). And to @totallysilvergirl, @7-percent, 221BCrow, BeckyAnnison, BakerTumblings, @calaisreno, karuna, @SherlockWatson_Holmes for editing, Brit-picking, feedback and advice on how to shape this. Thank you for sharing your invaluable input, cheerleading and sharing about the story & for your encouragement.
Now our boys can walk away into the sunset together. Thank you for an epic run. Hope to be back with them some time in the future. Sending all the love in my heart to everyone for reading and supporting this funny little thing that started with an oddball job posting…
Actors Wanted For Experimental Immersive Performance (in Development) Featuring work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Must be punctual, exacting, able to follow direction and take initiative. Acting and production experience preferred but may consider other relevant backgrounds. Certain roles include (simulated) intimate contact. Queer production. May be dangerous. Weak hearts or narrow minds need not apply.
No weak hearts or narrow minds in sight here. Huge hugs and thank you’s to friends/readers/beloveds at the story and below the cut.
do you know? Benedict Cumberbatch is linked to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Genealogy sleuths have discovered that Benedict Cumberbatch is directly related to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
It turns out that the star of the hit BBC series Sherlock and the author who created Sherlock Holmes more than 100 years ago are 16th cousins, twice removed, according to researchers at Ancestry.com.
“We love that through family history we can connect the creator of this brilliant detective and the captivating actor who portrays him,” said Ancestry historian Lisa Elzey in a statement. “Making family history connections is similar to piecing together a mysterious puzzle, one that the great Sherlock Holmes himself would be intrigued to solve.”
Cumberbatch and Doyle share a common ancestor in John of Gaunt, who was the Duke of Lancaster and a close friend of The Canterbury Tales poet Geoffrey Chaucer. John of Gaunt, born around 1340, was also the fourth son of King Edward III of England — another ancestor Cumberbatch and Doyle share.
“How rare that an actor in a major series has the chance to play a character created by a relative, especially one as iconic as Sherlock Holmes,” Ancestry historian Jennifer Utley said in a statement. “Imagine our surprise to discover that the connecting link between these two is British royalty. Seems fitting.”
See the genealogical connection between the author and the actor in the chart below.
If Johnlock happened in s3, it would have been so good, it would have been phenomenal. Ben and Martin’s on screen chemistry was insane at that time, they would have given everything into the love confession/kissing scene, it could have been soperfect… fuck
Worse is that despite everything, I simply cannot imagine anyone else playing John and Sherlock, whoever else is gonna portray them in the future… I am 100% certain that they’ll never be able to top Ben and Martin’s Johnlock (in which s4 doesn’t count I am talking about s1-s3 since the magic was barely there in s4). I mean, you’re free to disagree, but I’ve never before seen anything as beautiful as pre-s4 johnlock
@johnlockiseternal I agree with everything, like, why did they fucked it up? They had the perfect actors, the location, the money, worldwide popularity and the perfect the built-up to that moment… and then they just threw everything away and wrote S4. Ugh.
